Family Yoga

Friday, July 23 at 10:30 AM

Join us for family yoga on the Library lawn. This is a joyful way for children to explore movement and develop physical skills, learn yoga poses through active imagination, and creatively channel energy by following movement instruction and practicing calming moments.

This energetic class teaches body awareness and basic teacher/student dynamic using sing-along and movement to act out favorite animals, nursery rhymes, and songs. Children also learn how they can use their breath and other skills to calm themselves down when feeling silly or upset.

Bring your own blanket or mat. We ask that you continue to wear a mask while attending in-person programs. Participants are asked to remain socially distanced and masks will be required until you are sitting with your family group. Registration required.

Magic Show with Ed Pop!

Please join us on the library lawn for a Comedy Magic Show with Ed Pop. We ask that you continue to wear a mask while attending in-person programs. We ask that you continue to wear a mask while attending in-person programs. Participants are asked to remain socially distanced and masks will be required until you are sitting with your family group.

Kids Jam with Sarah presented by MusicWithSarah

Monday, July 26 at 3:30 PM 

This is a fully involved family jam with ukuleles, percussion, bells and drums. Everyone gets to join the library band led by Sarah for kids songs, folk and pop sing a longs. We also stand up and dance. Often listed as a family jam as there is not an age limit on playing music. Grandparents, teens, siblings and friends welcome to join the fun!

Join us for an in-person, outdoor storytime on the library lawn! Bring a picnic blanket, a snack, and your favorite stuffed animal, and listen to stories! Best for ages 2-5. We will be observing social distance and masks will be required. Registration required.

Jester Jim Show for Families!

Thursday, July 29 at 3:00 PM

"This not your ordinary juggling show!” With a trunk full of props and a looping machine, Jester Jim takes the stage and starts his show.  Young and old will be glued to his every sound as he performs his amazing beatbox intro.  Kids and adults alike will be talking about Jester Jim's wild antics for weeks! Libraries, schools and festivals can't seem to get enough of Jim and his plungers! Great family program.

Safety PAWtrol presented by CHS

The Connecticut Humane Society wil present this fun program for families. Pets are an important part of many people’s lives! And knowing the right and wrong ways to interact with them is key. It is especially critical for children to learn how to act around pets like dogs, cats and small animals. This classroom program will provide the tools needed to be safe around pets, with an emphasis on kindness and focusing on how we can kindly interact with them. Great program for kids ages 5 to 11.

Cool-ology presents Coding and Robotics Lab for Kids

Wednesday, August 4 at 4:00 PM

Participants in this class will explore the fundamentals of unplugged coding concepts and robotics. We’ll investigate algorithms, ASCII binary code, and looping. Children will code mini robots including Dash, Cue, Sphero, and Bee Bots!

Digital Program: Food Explorer's Baking Class for Kids

Wednesday, August 11 at 3:00 PM

Join Food Explorers to make No Churn Ice-Cream and Hot Fudge Sauce! You don’t need an ice-cream maker for this recipe, which comes together in a flash.

You’ll need the following ingredients:

2 cans sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream (2 cups), chocolate chips, butter and optional vanilla.  You will need an electric hand-held or stand mixer.
